ProcessOne: Mobile VoIP has not yet reached its full potential

Mobile voice over internet protocol (VoIP) has not yet reached its potential and is so far "much more a proof of concept of what can be done".
This is the opinion of Mickael Remond, chief executive officer of ProcessOne, who views mobile VoIP as something that is very much in the process of evolving.
He said: "The user experience is lagging and there are restrictions on how you can use the application."
The introduction of Skype on the iPhone will "enable users to make cheap calls abroad", he added, but as this is restricted to WiFi networks, handset users will "need to be connected to them in order to make and receive calls, which does limit mobility".
On March 31st, Skype was introduced to the Apple applications store and is available as a free download and adds Skype and instant messaging to the iPhone, enabling users to chat to contacts around the globe.
Statistics collated by TeleGeography last month reveal that Skype's international traffic volumes have surged, growing by 41 per cent in 2008 to 33 billion minutes.
