23/10/2008
A theatre in Barking has entered the digital era by offering customers free wireless internet access to its customers.
People stopping off for a coffee at the Broadway theatre will also be able to surf the net thanks to the scheme which has been launched in conjunction with Barking and Dagenham council and IT specialists The Cloud.
Labour councillor Shaun Carroll, the council's executive member for customer services, unveiled the scheme, reports the Barking and Dagenham Recorder.
Mr Carroll commented: "The launch of this initiative marks an exciting time for the borough and I'm sure users of the new service will find it both an entertaining and extremely useful resource."
The scheme, which will run for three years, also extends to the nearby St Chad's Health Park.
According to the mobile broadband internet resource myHotspots, there are around 6,500 listed Wi-Fi hotpots in the UK.
