Business continuity "will be invaluable" in cases of fire

A local community website has spoken out about the importance of business continuity planning for organisations of all sizes, saving it "will be invaluable" in cases of arson or accidental fire.
Peterborough UK, a community website dedicated to giving out advice to local businesses and individuals, claims that 80 per cent of businesses without a business continuity plan go bankrupt within five years of a major disaster like a fire.
Bill Hewitt, fire safety director at Newflame, told the website that protecting a business against arson involved making a risk assessment and careful planning.
Business continuity providers can also ensure that business-critical data is not lost in the event of an arson attack or a fire, by backing it up in data storage centres.
Recently, business continuity expert David Honour wrote on his website Continuity Central, that he believed business continuity will continue to grow as a sector in the future, as companies increasingly recognise the importance of effective disaster recovery planning.
