Businesses need to prepare for swine flu

A business continuity expert has claimed that businesses need to prepare themselves for a swine flu pandemic, which may potentially constitute a real threat to their operations.
Dr Jim Kennedy, a consultant for Alcatel-Lucents Professional Services Security Practice, said that companies should consider the impact of the potential pandemic in the same way that countries currently doing.
He advised businesses to develop special precautions for assessing employees' health and preparing for a period of reduced demand from customers, as well as potentially reduced supply in case their supply sources are affected.
Dr Kennedy added: "It is the obligation of business leaders to perform due diligence and exercise due care in running its operations even during trying times such as a pandemic."
Recently, the World Health Organisation raised the official alert level from four to five, which is one stage short of a full-blown pandemic.
