Companies 'not assessing quality of business continuity management'

22/05/2009

A survey conducted by Continuity Central has revealed that many companies in the UK do not undertake any kind of quality control assessment of their business continuity management systems.

The poll revealed that more than two-fifths (41 per cent) of companies in the UK do not have quality control processes in place for business continuity.

Continuity Central found that the prevalence of quality control systems varied depending on the size of the organisation. It found that 65 percent of large organisations undertake quality assurance activities, while just 25 per cent of medium-sized companies do so.

It added that "49 percent of respondents [who did not have continuity quality control in place] stated that their organization did have plans to undertake quality assurance of business continuity outputs in the future".

Business continuity can help companies deal with everything from IT failure to serious incidents like arson attacks, earthquakes or pandemics.
