Virtualisation 'comes into focus' for businesses
19/05/2009
Virtualisation is becoming an increasingly important focal point for IT investment, according to a new survey.
News website Zycko cited a poll by Freeform dynamics which suggested that around 40 per cent of organisations are currently engaging in implementing virtualisation initiatives.
Furthermore, many other companies are planning on putting virtualised systems in place in the coming months, according to Zycko.
The news provider explained: "Adoption of virtualisation is driven by a desire to utilise the available server resources more fully, according to Freeform Dynamics, as well as to gain cost benefits as a result."
Freeform Dynamics recently noted that around 80 per cent of the companies that had switched to virtualised systems are positive or very positive about the technology.
Virtualisation enables companies to run several servers off a single physical machine, thus helping them reduce the amount of hardware they need to purchase and maintain.
