Outsourcing 'can help firms focus on key activities'
30/06/2009

Outsourcing some of their functions can allow firms to function on their most significant activities, according to one expert.
Business Link adviser John Grange stated that in the current economic climate it is vital that firms spend their time and energy on areas that have the most value for them and outsource others.
"A lot of other activities that are essential and important for their business, I personally think, are absolutely right for outsourcing," he added, suggesting that such methods are cost effective and prevent businesses from becoming distracted.
Mr Grange stated that in situations when outsourcing has proved unsuccessful it is normally because people have not put in enough effort to make it work.
The expert's comments come after research published by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development highlighted that 89 per cent of businesses are currently outsourcing at least some of their operations.
