Outsourcing IT 'can provide reduced expenditure'

A software solutions provider has said that outsourcing IT functions by making use of cloud computing and software as a service can help save companies money.
In a list of credit crunch-busting tips, software provider DMC solutions said: "With a recession looming many companies are opting to reduce or cut their spends.
"Outsourcing IT responsibilities can provide a company with reduced expenditure and the ability reallocate resources to better effect."
Earlier this month Computing magazine claimed that by using outsourced IT functions such as software as a service on a pay-as-you-go monthly basis, businesses can eliminate the uncertain returns that come with purchasing more conventional IT systems.
Recently, Friends Provident announced it would be switching to a managed hosting system.
The pension provider estimated the switch would save it £6 million in the first year of operation.
