How to adopt VoIP
20/03/2009
A leading IT expert has published some top tips which may help businesses reap the full benefits of trading in their telephones for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems.
Mike Hemes, regional sales director at Blue Coat systems, recommends that companies start off by establishing how many VoIP users their system will be supporting, before moving on to examine how much bandwidth will be needed for a typical information exchange.
Once these estimates are in place, organisations will be able to make more informed choices about which VoIP systems to use.
Mr Hemes added: "Furthermore, it is also possible that an organisation may need to increase the size of its WAN links to support VoIP traffic."
He explained that choosing the right system should enable businesses to "generate measurable cost savings" and that companies need to make sure that that the system they choose "ensures the highest quality end-to-end communication on an individual, per-call basis".
Recently, IT experts from One Stop Click claimed that VoIP will soon become the bread and butter of business communications.
