WAN optimisation 'may help companies expand'
20/05/2009

Wider area network (WAN) optimisation can play a key role in enabling businesses to grow, experts have suggested.
A white paper published recently by Exinda suggests that WAN optimisation can help networks deal with an ever increasing number of people more efficiently.
The paper claims that if bandwidth congestion and other network issues are allowed to impede the functionality of key applications and IT packages, then companies' whole operations can be put at risk.
It added: "With more remote and mobile users dependent on the WAN and more web-based applications coming online every day, the amount of traffic crossing organisations' networks is growing exponentially."
WAN optimisation not only helps businesses cope with this increased traffic, it can also help them cut their IT costs.
Recently Lantmannen, one of the largest food, energy and agricultural groups in Scandinavia, claimed that its WAN optimisation programme looks set save it several billion pounds this year.
