Businesses 'no longer need PCs' due to cloud computing

An expert believes that due to the increase in technologies such as managed hosting and cloud computing, many businesses no longer need to purchase as much hardware.
In the opinion of Rob Lovell, chief executive officer of ThinkGrid, enterprises are realising that with cloud computing solutions they can now get everything they need from the internet.
This is instead of having to pay for PCs and servers.
Furthermore, as a result of the recession many businesses are attempting to cut costs and being more economical with their existing machines is one way of doing this.
Mr Lovell said that software trends within business are changing because "the economic downturn has certainly pushed it forward as well as of course the advent of cloud computer servers".
When Microsoft unveiled its Azure cloud computing solution last year, it announced that it will be purchasing 10,000 servers every month, demonstrating the scale of the technology.
