Expert advises SMEs on data storage solutions

03/03/2009

An expert has discussed how small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can most effectively plan their data storage solutions in order to get the best results for them.

Speaking to SearchStorage, Tory Skyers, an SME storage consultant, claims that one of the biggest problems for small businesses is that they do not know where their data is and are unaware of how much they have.

As a result, they are not confident enough to plan their data storage strategies effectively.

Mr Skyers said: "Capacity management can help you put a giant lasso around that stuff, rope it in and get it under control, provided that you put the right tools, policies and processes in place."

He also claims that firms need to be aware of "what your business is doing", from a technology and business standpoint.

In related news, SunGard Availability Services has recently opened a new data storage centre in the US.
