08/10/2008
Despite being 'in development for a short time' mobile voice over internet protocol (VoIP) is set to become big in the future, it has been claimed.
According to dialaphone.co.uk, only a "small percentage of users" are taking advantage of the developing technology, but this is sure to change as people look to tighten their belts during the economic crisis.
It adds that despite trying to save cash, individuals and businesses are not willing to reduce spending on electronic devices but are instead looking to save on the services they require.
Mobile VoIP, the site furthers, allowing "free or low-cost calling between mobile phones to landlines throughout the world" may be the way in which people do this.
With a "new wireless standard" incorporated that ensures "calls won't be dropped during VoIP conversations on mobile phones", the service will appeal even further, the site claims.
In related business internet news, market researching firm In-Stat predicted that over one million devices could come complete with Wi-Fi chips by 2012.
