The data centre 'industry is growing'
29/06/2009

The data centre industry is growing due to the increasing demand for processing power and data storage capacity, it has been claimed.
According to TechNavio, there has been a huge increase in the amount of data being stored and managed hosting service providers are starting to pack network equipment more densely in their data centres to keep up with the demand.
The firm said: "The Global data centre network equipment market is expected to reach $11,867 million (£7,202 million) by 2012, from $9,400 million in 2008."
Meanwhile, the firm's researchers added that energy efficient data storage is the key to firms being able to offer the "maximum energy efficiency with minimum impact on the environment".
The claims come as TechNavio released its 'Global data centre network equipment market 2008-2012' report, which offers forecasts and market trend as well as information on network equipment vendors.
Meanwhile, Adam Lee, IDC associate market analyst for IDC New Zealand, said that an increasing number of businesses are choosing to outsource their IT infrastructure.
