The number of small businesses using managed hosting service providers to store their web data is reducing the number of in-house hosting solution problems, it has been claimed.
According to Small Business Computing, using a web hosting firm to back up data means businesses do not have to deal with finding space for networking equipment such as servers, switches, racks and cabinets.
The news providers technology and engineering specialist Drew Robb claims that on top of this firms benefit from not having to maintain the hardware themselves reducing downtime.
Avinash Arun, from IT research company AMI Partners, told the publication: "Hosting among small businesses moved from 13 per cent adoption in 2006 to 25 per cent in 2008."
Meanwhile, the number of medium-sized businesses with between 100 and 999 employees who adopted third party web hosting grew from 21 per cent in 2006 to 41 per cent in 2008, Mr Arun added.
Meanwhile, Ghacks Technology News claimed that managed hosting is a cost effective networking solution.
